Can it really be March already? Spring is just around the corner, and we’ve been keeping busy at TVA. From flood control to prescribed burns to shoreline stabilization and trail building -- there’s always something we’re doing to improve your public lands and waters experience.

This issue of River Neighbors touches on some of the activities we’ve been up to in case you’ve been hibernating, and we give you some ideas for getting outside if you’re not. In addition, we’re highlighting some opportunities for you to get involved in your communities and help us make life in the Valley better.

I hope you are enjoying River Neighbors. We’ve had a great response for the publication so far. I’m always humbled by the spirit of service our partners and neighbors have for this wonderful place we call home. At TVA our mission is service, and managing the Tennessee River system for the greatest public good is part of that mission. Thank you for sharing our passion for public lands and waters!

Working through the Winter

When the leaves fall off and the weather turns cold, TVA employees go to work. In fact winter is the best time for many important jobs you may not know TVA does. Read more about how working in the winter has its benefits and enhances your experience on TVA public lands and waters.

It’s Cold Outside, Get Out and Play

Spring may be right around the corner, but it’s still chilly. The wonders of cool weather in the Tennessee Valley make for some unique outdoor experiences you can’t get in the summer months. Explore how you can beat cold weather blahs by getting outside.

Saving the Sicklefin

What IS a Sicklefin Redhorse you might ask? It’s a fish that is only found in the far eastern corner of the Tennessee Valley. Read about how TVA is working with partners to increase the population of this important species.

Get Involved: Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful

Join TVA and our partners as we work to clean up four sections of the Tennessee River that need some TLC. Find dates, locations and sign up to volunteer and help us keep the Tennessee River beautiful!
